Berenice Curro

I specialize in PRC consulting, behavior treatment plan review, and DDD navigation support. I help providers improve compliance and documentation practices, and I help members and legal guardians better understand services, rights, and responsibilities.

About Me

My professional focus is helping organizations understand and navigate the policies of the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), behavior support practices, and Program Review Committee (PRC) standards.

My experience with the Arizona Department of Economic Security – Division of Developmental Disabilities provided me with in-depth knowledge of the systems, policies, and expectations that guide services across the state. I served as the Program Review Committee (PRC) Chair for District East for two and a half years, where I reviewed behavior treatment plans and proposals involving restrictive interventions to ensure alignment with DDD policies, Article 9 requirements, the Behavioral Health Support Manual, and Positive Behavior Support principles. In this role, I also developed and delivered trainings for Support Coordinators and service providers, strengthening their understanding of PRC expectations and behavior plan requirements. Working alongside a dedicated team, we successfully restored operational timeliness and compliance for PRC District East during my first year in leadership.

I also bring an international professional background, having worked in Mexico, Germany, Canada, and the United States in administrative and operational roles. These experiences strengthened my skills in data analysis, systems improvement, and problem-solving—skills I now apply to workforce training and policy education within the developmental disabilities field.

I currently work full-time with a nonprofit organization in the state as a Learning and Development Specialist, where I design and deliver training programs for human services professionals. My instruction focuses on strengthening workforce competencies in areas such as:

  • Positive Behavior Support

  • Article 9 and individual rights

  • Recognizing and reporting abuse, neglect, and exploitation

  • Crisis prevention and behavioral response

  • Person-centered supports for individuals with developmental disabilities

I am committed to improving the quality of services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Arizona. I am passionate about protecting individual rights, strengthening provider knowledge, and improving the quality of behavioral support services across the state.

I did not supervise Berenice but did work with her while she was a PRC Chairperson. Berenice always demonstrated high ethical standards and worked tirelessly to advocate for members with behavioral support needs. Berenice organized her meetings well and showed respect for all meeting participants.

Very caring and compassionate. Hardworking. Able to clearly express her need while being respectful of the needs of the team. Always concerned that the patient/member/client needs are being met.
